Starting from this post, the webmaster, yours truely, will write a series of computer tips to help you enjoy better e-schooling experience with NWCS. I hope this will help both studnents and teachers. Do you still turn in your recording homework in tapes? Isn't that a bit too 20th-century-ish? Why not just record and email (or upload)? Microsoft Windows came with a "Sound Recorder", you can find it at "Start"/"All Programs"/"Accessories"/"Entertainment"/"Sound Recorder". You could use it but it's really hard to use. It only allows you to record for 60 seconds*. Fortunately, there are many free and better alternatives to Sound Recorder. The one I like the most is Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) It supports Windows, MacOS and Linux. It has no obvious limit on the length of the recording. Also, you'd find it's very easy to edit your clip. You can edit out long pauses or repeats; basically, just select and delete. The only tricky thing is when you save your clips as mp3, you need to have LAMELib file. it's just another file to download. ps. There is a rumor saying Sound Recorder can record more than 60 seconds.
