Attention: SMS Classroom Material Missing
Somers Middle School (SMS) 上週又發現有一間教室裏的電腦鍵盤及音箱遺失， 這是本學期的第二次。 這類事件將會嚴重影響本校跟 SMS 之間的關係， 甚至損害我們租用 SMS 的權利。 請所有的家長及同學遵守教室裏應有的規則 - 不可擦拭黑板上的字， 也不可以亂動教室裏的東西。 謝謝大家的合作。
The Somers Middle School (SMS) again informed us that a computer keyboard and speakers in one of the classrooms were missing. This incident, the second time this semester, may damage our relationship with SMS and jeopardize our right to use the school. We urge all parents and students to follow the rules in the classrooms: do not erase any SMS teacher's writing or disturb classroom materials. We need everyone's cooperation!

NWCS offers a tutoring service that begins at 11:00 on school days. We are currently experiencing a shortage of tutors. Tutoring is a valuable and rewarding experience. If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please sign up with the Principal at the office.

The annual meeting of the ACS (Association of Chinese Schools) will be held on 05/27/06 and 05/28/06 at SUNY New Paltz. All teachers, parents, and students are welcome to attend. Parenting Workshop
北威親情園地本週起將改為自由交談， 分享的方式進行。 仍由林安禮老師主持。 大家可以輕鬆地談論溝通子女管教、 價值觀、 青少年心理、 性教育等問題。 歡迎所有關心親子問題的父母親參加。 林安禮老師， 心理輔導碩士， 在台灣曾擔任 “張老師電話” 義務張老師。 在美從事親職教育多年。 時間： 週六早上 9:30 到 11:00。 地點： Somers Middle School 214 室。
The Parenting Workshop begins this week. Please feel free to come in with your concerns and questions. It will be held Room 214 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. The topics include effective communication, discipline, youth psychology, sex education, etc. Ms An-li Lin will be the facilitator. Please do not miss this special opportunity to learn parenting skills and share your experience with fellow parents.
中華文化隊招生
Chinese Culture Team Recruiting
歡迎本校八到十一年級的同學加入中華文化隊。 你將會學習古詩， 成語， 人物史實， 地理，飲食， 國劇， 文學， 中醫等題材。 這支文化隊將于明年五月代表本校與其他中文學校競賽。 競賽模式是摸擬 “Jeopardy”。有興趣的同學請向校長報名。
We welcome students from grades 8 to 11 to join this team. Team members will learn Chinese poetry, history, geography, food and cuisine, opera, literature, medicine, and related topics. The Team will represent NWCS at the ACS Annual Meeting (Memorial Day weekend 2006),乸nd will compete with other student groups from Chinese schools in the Northeast. The competition will be in a "Jeopardy" style. Interested students please sign up with the Principal.

學校新增中文圖書
New Chinese Books
學校陸續收到很多中文圖書， 尤其是四箱由東森慈善基金會贈送的小朋友讀物， 非常實用與珍貴。 在此感謝王台花女士的幫助。 我們將整理藏書， 供大家借閱。 我們需要義工來參與這項工作。 有興趣的家長， 請與董事朱麗媛連絡。
Thanks to Mrs. Tai Hwa Chang, we just received 4 boxes of Chinese children's books from the ETTV Foundation of Taiwan. These are very useful and valuable books for children to learn Chinese. We need volunteers to organize all the books and CD/DVD's. We would like to open our "library" for parents and students to borrow the books. If you are interested in helping out, please see Ms Juliet Candee.

TV Program on China
This Saturday, 04/01/06, at 4:00, Channel 13 (WNYC) will air a program on China called "Global Trekker: Ultimate China". According to the station's website, each "Global Trekker" episode documents the journey of young travel guides as they sample local delicacies, stay in traditional lodgings and interact with residents in ways that bring their destinations to life. The travelers explore sights and activities that include a mix of traditional and popular culture, landmark attractions and off-the-beaten-path adventures.

演講公告
Pediatric Acupressure Seminar
本周六執業針灸醫師關秉慧將來本校做第二場幼兒指壓的演講。關醫師精通中文，英 文及廣東話。 演講主題包括指壓在免疫，消化系統，便祕， 呼吸，睡眠方面的強 化功用。也包括一些成人有興趣的消減壓力及視力保健等問題。上一場演講獲得熱 烈好評，歡迎大家踴躍參加。時間是上午九點半至十點半，地點在220教室。
This is the second seminar in a series of three on Introduction to Accupressure by Dr. Binghui Guan. Topics include enhancing the immune and digestive systems in children. Specific illnesses common in children such as constipation, colds, agitation, respiratory and sleep problems will also be discussed. A few adult health issues will also be covered. The seminar is scheduled for 9:30-11:00 in Room 220 on 4/8/06. We had a wonderful feedback from attendees of the last seminar. Make sure you don't miss this one, so mark your calendar!
