行事曆改變

Calendar Changes

Due to the snow day last week, we have delayed our remaining schedule for this term by one week. This means that on 1/22/2004 we will have the final in the morning at the Middle school; the Graduation ceremony and student performances will start at 1:00 pm in Somers High School. The Chinese opera show will follow at around 3:00 pm, and the dinner party in the high school cafeteria at 6:00 pm. The carnival will be held in the high school gym at around 6:00 pm as well.

We will have two Chinse opera shows (The Jade Bracelet & The Monkey King) performed by the Yeh Yu Chinese Opera Association of New York. Playbills with English translation will be available for audience members who do not speak Chinese. NWCS pays for the expense of inviting the Yeh Yu group to perform. Hence, we are charging $10 for each adult for entrance. Entrance is free for children of NWCS families and $5 for each outside child.

We'd like to urge our NWCS families to invite their friends and relatives who may be interested in enjoying a traditional Chinese cultural event to come see the shows. Let's share a rare opportunity to see two of the most famous Chinese opera shows that have entertained the Chinese people for ages

新年晚會節目

New Year's Party Program

今年新年晚會﹐ 學校將邀請國劇團參與演出﹐ 演出戲碼包括孫悟空和拾玉鐲。入場費：成人$10﹐ 北威家庭的孩童免費﹐ 非北威家庭的孩童收費$5。請家長們邀請朋友觀賞。除了十二年級生以外﹐ 其他各班級將自行決定是否參與晚會的節目。晚會仍有古箏, 吉他, 舞蹈, 及功夫的表演。

畢業典禮將於下午一時準時開始。其後有畢業生及其他才藝表演(如古箏,舞蹈等)﹐ 約於二時三十分結束。才藝表演結束後將清理場地﹐ 預備國劇演出。二時四十五分開始收入場卷﹐ 國劇演出將於下午三時開始。國劇結束後將有園遊會﹐ 晚餐和卡拉OK。

We have invited a local professional Chinese Opera group to give a performance for this year's New Year's Show. They will perform two acts, "The Monkey King" and "Picking Up A Jade Bracelet". Because of the cost of this performance, we will charge $10 for each adult for entrance. We will also charge $5 for each child that is not from our NWCS families. Children from NWCS families will be not be charged. We encourage parents to invite their friends to come enjoy the show. Our usual class performances will be optional this year, with the exception of the 12th grade. We will still have Table Harp, Guitar club, Dance Class and, possibly, Kungfu performances.

The graduation ceremony will start at 1:00 sharp. Our graduate class and talent shows (table harp, dance, etc.) will start right after the ceremony and will end at about 2:30. We will then clear the auditorium and prepare for the Chinese Opera show. At 2:45, we will start collecting tickets for the Chinese Opera show, which will start around 3:00. We will still have the carnival, dinner, and Karaoke party after the show.

Speech Contest

背誦比賽成績已揭曉﹐ 所有參加的同學都會拿到一張證書。每一等級的優勝者 (前30%) 的名單公佈如下﹐ 前三名的同學會得到一座獎杯作為鼓勵。

The results of the speech contest are now available. We would like to thank all participants for your efforts! You have done a wonderful job. Congratulations! All participants will receive a certificate. The top 30% students from each grade level are listed below, and will receive an Excellence Award. The first 3 places from each level will receive a placement award and a trophy.
